A non-exclusive license<\/strong> (or simple license) is a license<\/strong> that authorizes the licensee to exploit the intellectual property right (for example, a patent<\/strong><\/a>, a trademark<\/strong><\/a>, or a copyright<\/strong><\/a>), but does not guarantee exclusivity<\/strong>. The licensor remains free to grant other licenses to third parties and, unless specifically agreed, to exploit the protected technology or work itself. Although less protective for the licensee, the non-exclusive license is often less expensive and more flexible.
